1/11/07 01:04 am - A proper update
Haven't done a full on proper update in ages. As you may or may not know, I am now in a student house (since September). I can't gt to sleep right now because my other housemates have just got back from a night out and are making rather a lot of noise. My housemates are generally ok, there's Anju, we're getting on quite well now, it was a bit different at first. She used to phone me up a lot asking where I was and telling me it was my turn to do the washing up when it bloody wasn't, it was kinda like having a wife! Anyway she did come here all the way from India, I think she is more settled now and she is a great cook. Since I got back after the Christmas break I'd only been eating pizza but tonight Anju cooked a really nice (if a little hot) potato curry. A nice hearty meal. We like watching murder, she wrote and diagnosis murder together during the day if we have no lectures. I think she finds me a bit wierd (most people do) but she deals with it well. She wants me to take her to the pub so she can get drunk for the first time! Then there is housemate 2: also called Clare, she is ok, she sings. A lot. She seems to have a decent voice but when you're trying to get to sleep at 2 in the morning and therre is a drunken person singing pop songs across the landing it can be a little annoying. There are two guys, Johnny and Tom, they seem nice enough, don't really have anything in common with them. We just say hi to each other and attempt to make conversation if we're in the sitting room together. The kitchen is a fucking mess, Before Christmas I ended up completely cleaning the kitchen, from top to bottom, every plate, bowl, pan and peice of cutlery, twice when it wasn't my turn. I just couldn't take the mess any more. I don't want to do that this time because then they're just gonna think they can get away with it. I can't beleive I'm the responsible doing the cleaning, how the fuck did that happen?
My course is going ok, not really enjoying the poetry module or language module but the other four are more enjoyable. When I say I'm not enjoying poetry I think it's just hat I find it qute tough. Reading/writing women is really good. Looking at all these feminist critics and I've read some really interesting books, such aas Virginia Woolf's a room of ones own, that was pretty eye opening. Also read Mansfield park, I really enoyed it, I didn't think I would like Jane Austen novels but there you go.
I'v made two really good friends who are doing most of the same modules as me, Danniele and Nichala we all get on so well. We went for a night out before Christmas in Cardiff, it was such a laugh and quite bizzare. Danni got her shoe stuck in a drain at the begginging of the night, thrn we were in thos club and she dropped her drink and the glass shattered everywhere, we were pretty drunk by that point and just edged away. We meet these guys in the que for another place, they were in their late thirties, somehow we ended up goign to another club with them and drinking champagne and Danni was snogging one of them, he was 35. We're still taking the piss out of her for that. There is some much more but I need to try and get to sleep. Got lectures tomorrow, my housemates seem to have quietened down, for now at least. It's been a very eventful few months. I shall update again soon.
